Web Traffic Tips – How Does a Web Page Get Ranked #1

Obviously a webpage will not rank very well unless you either market it or advertise it. These two means are distinct and will be explored further.

Marketing. Marketing includes all the following to some extent. Everything from emailing, branding, advertising, customer relationship, website design and much more.

Advertising. As seen from above advertising is a part of the marketing but it should always be used in marketing your business and not be the only means of promoting your business. Advertising can take the shape of pay-per-click (PPC), article writing, banners on other websites and many other means.

But in the end it all comes down to SEO or search engine optimisation. Due to the large amount of information that is available on the WWW each search engine has it own algorithm. These algorithms decide what the person searching is seeking and how relevant the content on your web page relates to the search. Your content has to be relevant as the algorithms are very good at looking at the visible text and rejecting fraudulent websites.

So how do you SEO your site?

1. The easiest way is research your niche and then design your website around the research. There are many tools available to provide you with the keywords or keyword phrases used by people to type into the search engines. These tools will generally tell you the amount of searches on a 30 day period and also how many competing pages exist for the keyword search term.

2. Maybe after looking at the quantity of competitors you may want to narrow down your field by using a long tail keyword phrase. Those same tools generally will provide you some indication of long tail keywords. So do the research again. After you have decided on the phrase then comes the design stage. Always keep in mind that the more competitors you have the harder it will be to get to page one of the search engines.

3. The easiest way to SEO your design is to look at how others on page one of the searches has presented their sites. After all they have the runs on the board otherwise they will not be on page one.

4. Design the web pages around the research that you have gathered. If you are not capable of carrying out the design yourself then pay someone to do it. There are many coding facets that have to be considered to make the web pages SEO friendly.

Link building is an important part of SEO. Link building takes the form of articles, news or press releases, videos, blogging or social marketing. You use link building as this generates traffic to your website from content posted on their websites. The more links you have the more like and authority you seem to the search engines and your website ranks higher.

So to get to be ranked #1 is not an over night process. As shown you have 3 major components to the process. Stage 1 is the research phase, stage 2 is the marketing stage and stage 3 is the continuous advertising stage. But each stage has to be worked on continuously otherwise your site will become stale and lose its ranking in the search engines.
